Dr. James Adams, PhD

Dr. James Adams is Director of the Autism/ Asperger’s Research Program at Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona. Working in conjunction with physicians, nutritionists, biochemists, and others, his research is focused on the causes and treatment of Autism across the lifespan. Dr. Adams believes the addition of research based biomedical therapy to treat individuals with autism spectrum disorder can improve the effectiveness of ongoing educational, therapeutic, and behavioral interventions.

Dr. James has a PhD in Materials Engineering, but for the last 20 years has focused his research on the biological causes of autism and how to treat it. He has published over 200 peer reviewed scientific articles, including over 50 on Autism. He has led many clinical trials including nutritional supplementation, microbiota transplant, detoxification, and other.

He is also the President of the Autism Society of Greater Phoenix, the President of the Autism Nutrition Research Center, the co-leader of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Autism Research Institute, and chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Neurological Health Foundation. He has an adult daughter with autism.
